Offline Irrigation Controller Before Winter Closing
An offline irrigation controller tells you there is a connection problem, not that the system is safely closed. Report it before the visit so the technician can plan for local access.
What an offline irrigation controller can mean
Hunter's HC guidance explains that an offline controller can use an offline program and may not receive remote manual commands. Other brands may behave differently. Check the instructions for the installed unit and tell the office what you see. Do not assume that losing internet access has stopped watering.

Arrange physical access
Explain if you cannot operate the controller through the app. Check that the technician can reach the unit and that the approved account user is available if needed. Avoid a factory reset just to make the app show online. It can create another setup task before the closing work starts.
Record the result of each task
After the visit, distinguish a restored connection from confirmed winter settings and completed physical work. If the connection problem remains, keep it on the follow-up list. An online indicator does not prove every zone was serviced, just as an offline indicator does not prove the supply is isolated.
